Prague (private collection) - head of a Barbarian (Capilatus)

Place of discovery: the northern Balkans

Material: marble with fine crystals.

Dimensions: overall height of 0.26m.

State of preservation: sculpture presents oil stains on the nose, mouth and cheeks (cf. Jutta Pinkerneil).

Date: Late period of the reign of Trajan.

Typology: Barbarian; see also the scene LXXII - Trajan's Column to compare with the two heads of Dacians (especially the head of the Dacian located below, near the shield) cut by Roman soldiers. The likeness is obvious.
