Statue of a Dacian (Capilatus), Palazzo Pitti, Castagnoli room

Place of Discovery: Unknown, formerly it was in the Capranica collection in Rome; since 1828, the statue is in the Pitti Palace in Florence.

Material: Italian marble.

Dimensions: height 2.44 m.

Conservation status: additions made below the knee, much of the mantle on the right side of the body, a few isolated folds behind the collar, at the chest level and at the left arm. The face is pretty well cleaned and shiny.

Date: middle of the reign of Trajan.

Florence, statue of a Dacian, Pileatus, Giardino di Boboli ; inv. ?

Place of Discovery: Unknown; origin: in 1584 the sculpture appeared in the collection of Cardinal Andrea della Valle, then it was sold to Cardinal Fernando di Medici. In 1788 it was brought to Florence by Count of Waldelli, where it is found in 1810 in the Garden di Boboli.

Material: the body is in dark red porphyry with large gray spots, the head and arms are in white marble.

Dimensions: height 2.20 m

Conservation status: additions have been made by the end of XVIth century, at the hands, the extremities of the legs, at the neck and nose, the eyebrows, the mustache, the lips and ears. To repair the statue's right forearm burned ground was used as material. Back of the sculpture: the folds and body structure are visible

Date: by end the reign of Trajan.

Place of Discovery: Unknown; in 1587 it was on the front di Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence.

Material: white marble.

Dimensions: height from the chin to the top of the pileus, approx. 45 cm.

Conservation status: only the head is ancient.

Date: the reign of Trajan.
